FREON ALERT

We are trying to let all of our customers know about the up coming changes regarding the use of R-22 refrigerant. R-22 is the most common refrigerant (freon) used in air conditioning for the last 40 + years. The government and affiliated agencies have ordered production of any equipment using the R-22 refrigerant to cease by the end of 2009 . However, manufacturing companies have already started to limit production and we believe this equipment will no longer be available well before the end of the year.

Why is this a problem for consumers???

Traditional air conditioning systems have an outside condensing or heat pump unit and an indoor evaporator coil. These (2) pieces of equipment must be compatible to operate correctly. The newer replacement outdoor pieces of equipment use different oils and operate differently. This lubricant circulates all through the copper refrigeration lines and the indoor evaporator coil. If the outdoor unit were need replacing, the indoor evaporator coil would also need to be replaced. This is true even if the indoor evaporator coil was just replaced a year ago. The oil and operating pressure difference will not work. Please call us for further details on how your air conditioning system could be at risk in the near future. When calling, speak with Glen Watkins, our comfort specialist, about all the refrigerant details and how you may or may not be affected.
